An arrest was made by police; when 19-year-old Ryan M. Salvagno; attacked an 81 year old man; wearing a “Make America Great Again”, hat, and left him injured, when a grocery cart toppled on top of him; outside a ShopRite supermarket, in Franklin Township, New Jersey, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
The two men engaged in a short argument about the hat; as the older man was leaving, authorities said.
As the victim turned to walk away, defendant Salvagno was able to grab the victim’s hat and the two struggled for sole possession of the hat,” Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said. “Salvagno then took the victim by the arm and threw him to the ground, tipping over the victim’s cart of groceries and ultimately throwing the hat to the side,” the prosecutor said in a statement.”
According to NJ.com Police brought charges against Salvagno, with, “disorderly persons offenses of assault and harassment.” Police did not disclose how they identified the alleged attacker.
The victim suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment, according to the prosecutor’s office.
