A Nationally recognized; Attorney, politician, Conservative radio show host, and blogger Erick Erickson built his platform when he joined Redstate in 2005.
Erickson; once a CNN contributor, never held back his disdain for President Trump. In an interview with CNN after a Fox News debate hosted on August 6, 2015. Megyn Kelly co-moderator asked President Trump a question;
“Mr. Trump, one of the things people love about you is you speak your mind and you don’t use a politician’s filter. However, that is not without its downsides, in particular, when it comes to women. You’ve called women you don’t like ‘fat pigs,’ ‘dogs,’ ‘slobs’ and ‘disgusting animals.’ … Your Twitter account has several disparaging comments about women’s looks. You once told a contestant on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president, and how will you answer the charge from Hillary Clinton, who was likely to be the Democratic nominee, that you are part of the war on women?”
President Trump responded; “only Rosie O’Donnell.” Afterwards, when asked by CNN Anchor Don Lemon; who interviewed the President about the question that seems to upset the President he responded:
“She gets out. Starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions you. You can see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever, but she was, in my opinion, she was — off base,” Trump observed.
The very next day, Erickson uninvited President Trump from a RedState gathering held in Atlanta, saying, “Trump’s remark was a bridge too far; that even blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross certain lines, including decency.”
President Trump responded in a statement stating that, “Erickson had a history of making controversial statements for which he has had to apologize, and that he, Trump, was an outsider who did not fit into Erickson’s agenda.”
Now Erickson has done a 180 degree towards President Trump stating;
“We have a party that is increasingly hostile to religion and now applies religious tests to blocking judicial nominees. We have a party that believes children can be murdered at birth. We have a party that would set back the economic progress of this nation by generations through their environmental policies. We have a party that uses the issue of Russia opportunistically. We have a party that has weaponized race, gender, and other issues to divide us all while calling the President “divisive.” We have a party that is deep, deeply hostile to large families, small businesses, strong work ethics, gun ownership, and traditional values. We have a party that is more and more openly anti-Semitic.”
Erickson also slammed the media as one that increasingly views itself “not as a neutral observer, but as an anti-Trump operation.” The younger the reporter, the worse it was, he said.
“The daily litany of misreported and badly reported stories designed to paint this Administration in a negative light continues to amaze me,” he said.
