Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pressing Democrats, to take note of supporters of the “New Green Deal” candidates running for president in 2020, by introducing Ocasio-Cortez bill to the Senate floor. The vote would allow Republicans ammunition for the upcoming 2020 election.
McConnell told reporters:
“I’ve noted with great interest the Green New Deal. And we’re going to be voting on that in the Senate. Give everybody an opportunity to go on record and see how they feel about the Green New Deal,”
President Trump stated in a tweet:
“I think it is very important for the Democrats to press forward with their Green New Deal. It would be great for the so-called “Carbon Footprint” to permanently eliminate all Planes, Cars, Cows, Oil, Gas & the Military – even if no other country would do the same. Brilliant!”
Several of the 2020 presidential candidates supported the deal, but Majority Leader is anxiously waiting to see which of Democrats will say it officially with their vote.
